Doug Nygren from the Kansas Wildlife and Parks joined forces with the Kansas B.A.S.S. Chapter Federation Nation March 1 2008.

Doug Nygren talks about all the new and upcoming projects that the Kansas Wildlife and Parks have in store for 2008 with the new fish aquarium that they hope to have at as many events this year as possible. Doug Nygren is also working with the Castingkids events and plans to have the “Kansas Wildlife and Parks Fish Aquarium” at as many events as possible. Doug also goes into the Bass Pass procedures for professional bass fishing tournaments to be held around the state of Kansas. 

Wow what a great group of individuals, these guys are great…. We got a chance to meet the K State Fishing Team tonight at the Mid America Boat Show in Kansas City down at Bartle Hall  Kansas City…. These guys are a ball of energy and I cannot wait to see some of the on the water action these guys bring to the sport of fishing.

It is very exciting to see what has progressed from club fishing to college fishing….. Make-A-Wish Trout Tank this year at the Kansas Sport, Boat, and Travel Show

Sportsman’s Warehouse is a huge store,

After watching the Sportsman’s Warehouse Commercial on the website it truly is a experience since the store carries all most everything. I walked around the fishing department and found things that I had not seen even in the big brand companies that I was very impressed with.  It is always good to see big name products mixed with the little guy’s fishing tackle, I always like trying to gear and this is the store that carries those items.

The Service was great and everyone was very interested in helping you find what you were looking for, I wanted to really also point out some great people that helped me and a few others throughout the day such as Zac Everhart the Fishing Manager he was great to walk around the store with he was very helpful in finding products for our B.A.S.S. Federation Banquet coming up in March to open the fishing season for 2008 with our yearly raffle. We purchased a number of things in the store from fishing rods, and reel and tons of tackle and fishing lures. These guys are awesome..

I also wanted to thank the Store Manager Rick Hodge at Sportsman’s Warehouse - Wichita Kansas for such a wonderful experience and allowing us to use the facilities. I would like to also mention some great charities that Sportsman’s Warehouse are involved with this year.

During one of the Session Breaks Brad Burns the Kansas B.A.S.S. Federation Nations Youth Director received a call from our good friend Tom Spencer from the C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation and Kansas State Troopers. He had to show off the new truck wrap as well pick up a few new boxes of things from Berkley such as a Conservation Line Recycling Station and Fishing Rod and Reel Combo for his new Wichita Youth Club - KHP Reel Deal Wichita Youth Fishing Club, Always Tight Lines 

Skeeter Boats has just announced they have signed with the B.A.S.S. Federation Nation for 2008. What a great thing to hear I have had to meet a lot of great boat owners who run Skeeter Style.

Wow these spinnnerbait’s are incredible; I had the pleasure of fishing these lures only a few times in the fall after the KickBack Junior B.A.S.S. Club Season Finally our Year End Banquet. It was a really cool event with Brent Chapman - Professional Angler  and Leroy Shull from Pure Fishing, Solid Strike Lures , SpiderWire Fishing Line and Skeeter Boats. 

Leroy Shull and sponsors had some great gifts four our youth as he had an entire table filled with spinner baits from Solid Strike Lures made in the USA.

I cannot wait to fish these baits this season fishing with Brad Burns on the Buddy Series 2008 Kansas B.A.S.S. Federation Nation.

I heard they are testing a few new models and I would love to beta test it out on the tournament field.  But until then They have a ton to choose from…

This year Brad Burns the Youth Director for the Kansas B.A.S.S. Federation Nation and William Rock a Youth Director for the KickBack Junior B.A.S.S. Club will also be shooting live video and recording mp3 audio podcasts for you to listen to for tips and tricks to fishing. Allowing you to understand water temperatures as well weather patterns along with what spinnerbait colors to use in different conditions on the water. 

We will also be giving product demos and reviews of tackle we are using during the Bass Fishing Tournaments as we will use this to take back to the youth of the federation of Kansas to help develop skills needed for the Junior Bassmaster Classic.

It was a great turnout of parents and youth tonight we really had a great time with the entire family tonight with a few new faces in the crowd. Howard Cooper spoke to the club about the fall fishing patterns for spinner baits and top water and suspending baits as well on of his favorite baits is the crank bait. He said that this type of season is his favorite because you can just about catch fish all day long with your entire tackle box. The most important thing he did target in on when finding feeding fish on any give time look around and notice what the birds are doing and also when you get that Bass to your boat or in from shore look at what that fish was eating before it took your bait. Rodney Kirk also backed Howard with this week fishing results down at a local lake in Kansas. Rodney stated that he and Brad Burns must had caught a ton of fish of a shad looking crank bait and as they compared the bait to the shad that popped out of the largemouth bass was the exact size and color.

The kids then asked questions about if the wanted to pickup a few baits from downstairs in the fishing department what baits would they suggest and Howard suggested they pickup some STORM floating dots and it did not matter what depth a bait is suspending you can still adjust the baits depth with putting more or less dots, Howard also recommended just sticking the bait in the water first to test it’s response before using it for best results.

The kids came up and started to preview the stocked table of baits that Howard had spoke about and answered one on one with the kids as they all had fun asking their questions.

We then took care of business and discussed our next club tournament at Miami County Lake Kansas for October 13th 2007 for all active club members. This will be the last fishing club tournament for the KickBack Bass Club for the season and our End of year banquet is going to be scheduled in November with dates to be announced. We are able to this year 2 fishing rods tagged at a $200 value and donated gear from throughout the season.

I just got a chance not only to participate but be a part of our 2007 C.A.S.T. for kids event at lake El Dorado Kansas.

All I can say is I am still pumped up about the event. We say it is a life changing experience and let me tell you I was not the only one effected.

 I just heard Bassfeed.com They had posted 2 podcast downloads to listen about the event and our experince along side with Billy Raymond from BassFeed and his wife drove down from Iowa bass boat and all.

We all had a great time taking these kids out along side of the Kansas State Troopers and a special thanks goes out to Tom Spencer from C.A.S.T. for kids and keeping our kids safe as a State Trooper.

I would like to share some photos of our 2007 C.A.S.T. Event.

We had over 50 bass boats line the banks of Shady Creek Marina as you walked out onto the boat launch and looking around at the amount of people. It was great also watching my 7yr old son in his B.A.S.S. Federation KickBack Junior Club based in Olathe Kansas.
