It was great, I was able to enjoy the Monday with my son down at the ponds with huge sunfish as well a few sunfish we decided to understand how to make a sunfish live in a fish tank.
What does a sunfish eat, how do you keep the water clean and non cloudy like most fish tanks.
It is very interesting with the biology of a sunfish as this little guy grew up eating bugs and worms as well tadpoles and many other small creatures. My son and I have kept this pond stocked with sunfish and bass trying to figure out how to stock a pond and now we stock the smallest thing… A fish tank. Why?
We want to see if we can keep one sunfish happy and feed inside a habitat we maintain, sound familiar we have biologists all over the world trying to figure out the same thing and here an 9 year old boy from Kansas City has learned how a fish eats. Why is this important?
Well just imagine we have youth B.A.S.S. members learning to become Conservation Directors or one day maybe a President of a federation. He wears the B.A.S.S. logo very proud as he teaches many how to cast and fish.

As a mater of fact, Josh was teaching kids how to cast during the Cabala’s Casting Kids Event held in Kansas during June 2008. He did not win however he showed a few kids along with his dad how to win the Casting Kids Event from B.A.S.S. these new comers to the sport had a great day as they stayed just as long as the rest of the volunteers that day participating from the Leavenworth B.A.S.S. club as they always seem to have a huge amount of volunteers available for this program..
However back to the story, I have been fishing so many tournaments Josh and I got a chance to have fun again in the pond.. He even fished with my new St. Croix Fishing Rod my wife got me for fathers day.
Sorry I did not have the camera but we had a good time!
Josh had my St Croix Fishing Rod and I was amazed because this youth really does understand how a rod is made and why, as he said “dad I can feel the fish bite in the rod handle” I knew he was hooked as was I with this fishing rod manufacture.
